The city of Olsztyn

For many people Olsztyn remains the popular capital of Varmia and Masuria- the paradise for lovers of aquatics. This region is visited  by many people, who love  its beautiful landscapes. Olsztyn is a 650-year-old town that quickly expands its area. However, the core of the town is located arounde the Gothic Castle of the Cathedral Chappter, the tall spires of   medieval churches and the tenement houses in The Old Town. Many of them are on the European Route of Brick Gothic.

The most famous resident of Olsztyn was Nicolaus Copernicus. Among Copernicus memorabilia,  there is an astronomical chart, which Copernicus  made himself on one of the castle’s walls.  The annual Inauguration Ceremony for first year medical students  takes place in the very same gothic walls of Copernicus castle.
